Have a supplement idea, but no formula yet? No need to start from scratch, or piece a spec together from a dozen tabs. Skip the detours. Meet the Formula Helper, right on SupplementQuotes. Tell our AI chemist what you want to make. It asks a few quick questions, and you just tap your answers. In seconds, you get a draft spec sheet: the format, the serving size, every ingredient and amount, and whether it all fits. Change anything you like. Then send it to verified manufacturers, and compare their quotes side by side. It’s an honest first draft. Your manufacturer has the final word, and our team is one message away. From idea to quotes, all in one place. Try it free at SupplementQuotes.com.
The lab is open to customers
The Formula Helper is free with a SupplementQuotes account. Create one and the doors open: talk it through with the chemist, get a draft spec sheet, and send it out for competing quotes.
Your conversation and every spec sheet save to your account, so you can pick a draft back up later.
- Answer four short questions
- Get a spec a manufacturer can price
- Send it straight into a quote request
Why we built this
Most people starting a supplement brand do not have a formulator, and hiring one is slow and expensive. That is a real wall, because without a written spec there is nothing for a manufacturer to price. You cannot get a quote until you can describe the product in their language: the actives, the doses, the serving size, the format, the count. Plenty of good product ideas stall right there.
The part nobody says out loud
People are already using AI to write supplement formulas. That is not the problem. The problem is that most of them do not tell the manufacturer, so the facility prices the spec believing a formulator wrote it. Doses get quoted that do not hold up at production scale. Ingredients get combined that do not work together in one capsule. Counts get promised that the fill cannot physically hit. All of it surfaces late, after money has moved, when it was cheap to catch at the quoting stage.
So we do it in the open
Draft your spec here and the request carries that fact with it, in two places. First on the request card, before a manufacturer has even opened it:
Then again inside the request, directly above the box where they enter their price:
This spec started as an AI-assisted draft in the Formula Helper and has not been reviewed by a formulator. Treat the doses as a starting point and confirm anything that looks off before you quote.
You see your own version of the same message, so you know exactly what they know. Nothing is hidden on either side. The manufacturer checks the doses before pricing rather than discovering the issue in production, and you get a corrected spec back from someone who actually makes this for a living.
Getting the wording right took several passes, because the two sides need different things from it. A manufacturer needs to know what to double-check. A brand owner needs to know their manufacturer can see it, so there is no awkward conversation later. The feedback we have had from both sides is what shaped how it reads today.
Who this is for
Supplement and vitamin store owners who already know what their customers keep asking for. Fitness brands and coaches with an audience and no product yet. Anyone with a following who has been told to start a supplement line and has no idea what a spec sheet looks like. You know your customer better than any formulator does. This just gets that knowledge into a document a factory can price.
What it is not
It is not a formulator and it does not replace one. It is not regulatory or medical advice, and it does not check your claims against FDA labeling rules. The doses it suggests are a starting point for a conversation, not a validated formulation. If your product needs a qualified formulator, and some do, the right move is to hire one. What this gives you is a structured first draft, honestly labelled, that a verified manufacturer can quote and correct.
Once your spec is drafted you can edit every field, then send it out for competing quotes under the same mutual NDA that covers every request on the platform. New to this? Start with how to start a supplement brand, or read what a first run actually costs.
